6. What are whole-home backup and partial backup?
FranklinWH offers two backup options for your home: whole-home backup and partial backup.
- Whole-Home Backup: In the whole-home backup option, all household loads except for Smart Circuit loads are connected via the Main Panel to the backup port of the aGate. If the grid fails, the FHP power can support all household energy demands
- Partial Backup: In this configuration, only essential loads are connected to the backup ports of the aGate. Non-essential loads are connected to non-backup ports. When grid power supply fails, the aPower unit(s) will take over, maintaining power to the essential devices in the home.

-
Automatic Transition: The system switches to backup power within 16ms during a grid outage or instability.
-
Manual Transition: You can manually switch to off-grid mode using the FranklinWH App to test your system or increase energy independence.
