Two dedicated operating modes are designed to maximize your home's outage protection, tailored to different scenarios:

Enable this feature via the FranklinWH App when severe weather is predicted. The system will proactively charge your aPowers battery to 100% capacity ahead of the forecasted storm window, and temporarily lock all non-emergency battery discharge until the weather threat passes. This guarantees you have full backup power available when outages are most probable.

For scheduled utility outages: Switch to this mode at least 2 hours before the outage starts in summer, or 4 hours in freezing winter conditions (colder temperatures slow battery charging, requiring extra time to reach full capacity).

For everyday unplanned outages: This mode is purpose-built to provide continuous, reliable outage protection. When enabled, it prioritizes maintaining your aPowers battery at a high charge level and limits discharge for daily household use, ensuring maximum power is always reserved to run your essential backup loads during unexpected grid failures.

Even when using Self-Consumption or Time-of-Use (ToU) modes to maximize electric bill savings, you can adjust the battery reserve percentage in the FranklinWH App to balance your backup needs and daily energy usage.

Note: All FranklinWH operating modes include basic backup functionality. However, only Emergency Backup Mode and Storm Hedge Mode prioritize outage readiness above daily electricity bill savings.
