Why does my system keep switching in and out of backup mode?

Frequent toggling between normal and backup mode is usually caused by unstable grid conditions or system settings.
- Minor grid voltage or frequency fluctuations can trigger the system’s anti-islanding protection, making it repeatedly disconnect and reconnect to the grid.
- Brief grid blips, momentary outages, or utility line disturbances will cause temporary switches into backup mode.
- Overloaded home loads may push the system to drop into backup mode to protect itself, then revert once power demand eases.
- Outdated firmware, communication errors, or incorrect CT/meter wiring can also cause unstable mode switching.
If the cycling happens often, check for local grid instability or update your system firmware. If the issue persists, contact your installer for further troubleshooting.
