This role will be shaping the future of how residential energy is managed—starting at the point of construction—by designing and developing programs to support builders, developers, and ecosystem stakeholders nationwide.
The Director of New Homes Programs is a strategic development and think-tank leader responsible for defining, testing, and scaling our national new-homes strategy. This role sits at the intersection of market analysis, product-market fit, pricing strategy, and partnership design, with a clear mandate: win meaningful market share while maximizing long-term margin and program durability.
This role focuses on where to play, how to win, by structuring partnerships that align incentives across builders, financiers, installers, utilities, and regulators.
The ideal candidate brings experience in renewables and new home construction, a proven record of bringing innovative products to market, and a strong network of national relationships across builders, developers, and strategic partners.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Market Strategy & Program Design
- Analyze national and regional new-home construction markets to identify the highest-value opportunities by geography, builder type, regulatory environment, and buyer profile.
- Develop and continuously refine our new-homes go-to-market strategy, balancing adoption velocity, margin optimization, and program metrics.
- Evaluate tradeoffs between exclusivity, scale, pricing power, and long-term strategic leverage in builder partnerships.
Product & Offering Development
- Strategize with product, finance, and engineering teams to shape new-home-specific battery offerings, including SKU strategy, system sizing, and future-ready configurations.
- Influence pricing models, incentives, and bundling strategies to maximize lifetime value while remaining competitive a cap X focused marketplace.
- Partnership Architecture & Ecosystem Leadership
- Create a program to develop national-level relationships with homebuilders, developers, EPCs, financiers, utilities, and strategic channel partners.
- Develop partnership models that align incentives across stakeholders and reinforce long-term collaboration rather than transactional sales.
Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership
- Track policy, code, utility, and incentive trends affecting storage adoption in new construction.
- Produce actionable insights and recommendations for executive leadership on market shifts, competitive dynamics, and expansion strategy.
- Act as an internal center of intelligence for new-homes strategy, influencing roadmap decisions and corporate priorities through marketing and Brand channels.
Performance & Scaling
- Define success metrics for new-homes programs beyond volume—including margin contribution, partner quality, and scalability.
- Support the transition from pilot programs to national rollouts while preserving economics and brand integrity.
- Collaborate with sales and operations leadership to ensure strategic intent is reflected in execution.
Qualifications And Experience
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- 7+ years of experience in renewable energy, energy storage, solar, or adjacent cleantech, with direct exposure to new home construction.
- Demonstrated success bringing new products and programs to market in residential or builder-led channels.
- Established national relationships with homebuilders, developers, or major residential ecosystem partners.
- Strong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to translate market insights into executable frameworks.
- Proven ability to balance growth, margin, and long-term partnership value.
- Executive-level communication and influence skills.
- Experience structuring or managing builder partnerships.
- Familiarity with residential energy finance, incentives, and utility interaction models.
