BackVP of Product & Application Engineering

The VP of Product & Application Engineering will lead product vision, strategy, and execution across FranklinWH’s energy solutions portfolio. This role is responsible for defining and prioritizing product requirements informed by market, partner, and installer insights, while building a multi-year product roadmap aligned with company objectives. The VP will drive continuous improvement of current offerings and shape the architecture for future systems, integrating hardware and software across inverters, energy storage, power management, and EMS/VPP platforms. This leader will work cross-functionally with sales, service, supply chain, operations, and legal to ensure cohesive and successful product delivery.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead frontline product requirement definition and prioritization based on market, partner, and installer insights.
2. Develop a clear multi-year product strategy and roadmap aligned with company goals.
3. Drive improvement of current products (reliability, installation experience, service feedback) and guide next-generation system architecture.
4. Integrate inverter engineering, energy storage system design, power-flow management, and EMS/VPP software into a cohesive product platform.
5. Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, service, supply chain, operations, and legal teams to ensure aligned execution.
Qualifications And Experience
Job Qualifications
• 8+ years of product management experience in energy storage, inverter systems, electrical power management, or EMS software.
• Strong understanding of inverter design principles, battery storage architecture, power-supply/demand logic, and control software.
• Familiarity with IRA / OBBB / Domestic Content / FEOC and ability to incorporate compliance into product planning.
• Proven execution capability, strong cross-functional leadership, and the ability to convert field insights into product decisions.
• Excellent communication skills; English fluency required. Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in C&I or Utility-scale energy projects (DER, VPP, Microgrid).
• Background at industry leaders in storage, inverter, or energy systems
• AI, machine learning, or data-driven product development experience.
• Experience with data center energy management, power infrastructure, or mission-critical electrical systems.
• Familiarity with energy control platforms or EMS software is highly desirable.
