SRP Battery PartnerTM

Enroll your battery, save money, and
support a more reliable grid

program intro

What is
the SRP Battery
Partner program?

The SRP Battery Partner program in Arizona is a virtual power plant (VPP) initiative managed by Salt River Project (SRP). The SRP Battery Partner program rewards customers with FranklinWH Systems for allowing SRP to discharge their aPower battery storage during times of high demand throughout the year.

This can reduce grid usage during on-peak hours, when energy costs are highest, and help homeowners earn additional bill credits by participating in battery discharge events during periods of high grid demand. By working together, we help ensure your battery delivers value to you every day while also supporting grid reliability across the valley.

How do the SRP Battery
Partner program
incentives work?

By enrolling in the program with your FranklinWH aPower 2 or the aPower S battery, you can earn $55 per kilowatt (kW) of additional capacity delivered each season. Incentive payments for performance will be provided at the conclusion of each summer and winter season, paid as a bill credit up to two months after the close of the season ($110/kW per year divided into 2 seasonal payments).

Your incentive is based on the average extra power (beyond your battery’s typical performance) your battery provides during peak events. Actual performance depends on several factors such as system size, configuration, connectivity, and more. Please note that each FranklinWH aPower 2 or aPower S battery has an energy capacity of 15 kWh and can discharge up to 10 kW of continuous power during an event.

The example below is for illustrative purposes only and shows how a summer season incentive could be calculated.

Calculating the Event Baseline: A battery baseline is calculated by reviewing performance over the past five similar days and averaging the four highest results during the event window. For example, for a 2-hour event, 6-8 p.m. on Monday, SRP looks at the previous five weekdays to determine your baseline.
