Grid CT Troubleshooting

1. Split CT installed in wrong position

According to the Split CT application scenario, select the corresponding installation position schematic to check whether the Split CT installation position is correct.
Split CT 4 should be installed on the L1 bar and Split CT 3 should be installed on the L2 bar.
Note: The location of the L1 bar and L2 bar in the distribution panel may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Split CT 2 should be installed on the L2 cable.
Split CT 1 should be installed on the L2 bar of the PV Subpanel.

1.1 Scenario A Main Panel Consumption Metering

1.2 Scenarios B line-side Sub-Panel Consumption Metering

1.3 Scenarios C 120% Rule PCS Conductor Limiting Feature

2. Split CT not clamped

Check that the contact surfaces of the Split CT core fit perfectly and that there is no gap between the two contact surfaces.

3. Split CT wiring error

According to the Split CT application scenario, select the corresponding wiring schematic to check whether the Split CT wiring is correct.

3.1 Scenario A: Main Panel Consumption Metering

Split CT 4 should be connected to the CT 4 connector of the EMS module, white cable to "+", black cable to "-".
Split CT 3 should be connected to the CT 3 connector of the EMS module, white cable to "+", black cable to "-".
Note: This scenario requires the removal of the CT 1 and CT 2 cables that came with the EMS module from the factory.

3.2 Scenarios B: line-side Sub-Panel Consumption Metering

Split CT 4 should be connected to the CT 4 connector of the EMS module, white cable to "+", black cable to "-".
Split CT 3 should be connected to the CT 3 connector of the EMS module, white cable to "+", black cable to "-".

3.3 Scenarios C: 120% Rule PCS Conductor Limiting Feature

Split CT 4 and Split CT 3 should be connected to the GEN DRV connector of the EMS module with the following wire sequence from bottom to top as per the schematic: Split CT 4 white wire, Split CT 4 black wire, Split CT 3 white wire, Split CT 3 black wire.

4. Split CT Damage

Check the Split CT for cable shorts or short circuit faults.
According to the Split CT application scenario, select the corresponding measurement point schematic to measure the resistance of Split CT.
Unplug the Split CT terminals and use a multi-meter to measure the resistance of the Split CT. If the resistance value is out of the range of 265-275 Ω, it means that the Split CT is damaged, please replace the Split CT components.
