What is the
Rocky Mountain Power Wattsmart Battery Program?

The Wattsmart program, by Rocky Mountain Power in Utah, is a virtual power plant program that encourages homeowners to share battery storage energy, such as from the FranklinWH batteries, with the utility. By participating, homeowners allow their batteries to be automatically managed as part of the smart power grid, contributing to higher grid resiliency, reducing the likelihood of outages, and supporting the maintenance of some of the nation's lowest electricity rates.

How Does the Rocky Mountain Power
Wattsmart Battery Program Work?

Participants receive an upfront incentive enrollment incentive of up to $400 per kilowatt (kW) of installed battery capacity capped at $2000 per household. Starting in the homeowner’s second year enrolled, participants earn an additional annual bill credit of $15 per kW, which can be distributed equally across monthly bills.

*Starting May 1, 2025, all residential incentive applications are capped at $2,000 per household.

How to Participate

Step 1

Review the Wattsmart Battery Program terms & conditions to see whether you qualify.

Step 2

Choose a Certified FranklinWH Installer to add a FranklinWH System alongside an existing or new solar system and connect it to Rocky Mountain Power using a customer generation meter.

Step 3

If you need help finding a certified installer, contact our team at info@franklinwh.com.

Step 4

Work with your installer to further assess your eligibility and system requirements, then complete and submit the application for program participation and incentives.

Step 5

Rocky Mountain Power verifies the system’s communications and dispatch capabilities, followed by approval of the customer generation application.

Step 6

Once verification is complete, Rocky Mountain Power issues the incentive payment.
